In a recent survey of car buyers, Apple, which does not make automobiles, was highly ranked.
Key details
Consumers say they would buy an Apple car, and the cars don’t even exist yet.
Strategic Vision recently conducted a survey of 200,00 new vehicle owners. The survey listed Apple among more than 45 car makers. Apple was the third highest brand consideration.
The results concluded that 26% of customers said they would “Definitely Consider” an Apple-branded vehicle in the future behind Toyota (38%) and Honda (32%).
Not only did many say they would own a car from Apple, the company is also one of the most loved of all the brands. When asked about the quality of Apple, 24% of consumers ticked the top box labeled “I love it” beating the other brands by a big gap.
Why it’s important
While it’s unsure if Apple will ever actually jump into the car business, consumers are ready for it.
With Apple’s track record and the positive feedback from fans, the car would be a powerful force in the automotive industry.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported Apple is shooting for a fully autonomous electric car and aims to have one ready around 2025.
Surprising statistics
The number of people wanting EVs has hit a tipping point, more than half of car buyers worldwide want EVs.
The latest EY Mobility Consumer Index shows that 52% of people looking to buy a car want to buy an EV. This is the first time the number has exceeded 50%, representing a rise of 11 percentage points since last year.
