The Battle Is On Between Taylor Swift And Beyoncé

Taylor Swift and Beyoncé are two of the most well-known female artists of their generation, and with both singers touring this year, it is easy to compare how they stack up against each other.

Key Details

  • Both pop stars are on tour this year after multi-year breaks from the public stage.
  • The 33-year-old Swift is amid her largest-ever tour, with 60 shows nationwide.
  • Beyoncé is also in the middle of a significant tour with 57 shows lined up in 40 different cities, starting in Europe, Forbes reports.
  • Swift and Beyoncé have had to overcome industry challenges to emerge as the icons they are today, challenging the entertainment industry by recording old albums, taking on TicketMaster, and monitoring the ticket resale market.
  • The record-breaking pop stars have much in common throughout their career, but each still manages to stand on her own.

Why it’s news

Both Beyoncé and Taylor Swift have become superstar performers around the world and have amassed massive wealth along with a significant online following.

Beyoncé is worth around $540 million and ranks 48 on Forbes’ self-made women list. Swift has a net worth of $740 million and is number 34 on the same list. While Swift may have more wealth, Beyoncé has a greater internet following. The 41-year-old star has more than 309 million followers on Instagram compared to Swift’s 259 million.

Despite the high follower count on Instagram, Swift has more followers and listeners on Spotify. Swift tends to outpace Beyoncé on video platforms like TikTok and YouTube, where her videos consistently have more engagement than Beyoncé, Forbes reports. However, when it comes to audio-only platforms like Apple Music, Amazon Music, SoundCloud, and Spotify, Beyoncé is included on more playlists.

On Spotify, Swift’s most popular song is Anti-Hero, and Beyoncé’s is CUFF IT. On YouTube, Swift’s top music video is Shake It Off, while Beyoncé’s is Halo.

Backing Up a Bit

Both artists are known for making hits that rise straight to the top of the charts. Swift has nine number-one hits, and Beyoncé has eight. The singers have seen significant success, with Swift earning eleven platinum, six multi-platinum, and one diamond records. Beyoncé has achieved six platinum and seven multi-platinum records.

When it comes to awards, Beyoncé outpaces Swift with 32 Grammys compared to Swift’s 12. Swift has also been awarded one Emmy.

Both women are on tour this year, making headlines when they announced tour dates. Neither has gone on tour in several years. Swift will perform more shows than Beyoncé this tour, with 60 scheduled. Beyoncé will be performing 57.

For fans of the artists, Swift fans initially had access to more affordable tickets. During the start of ticket sales, Swift’s fans could snag a ticket for $899 at the most. Beyoncé’s fans could pay up to $5,000.

Now, ticket resales are hitting the market on StubHub. Swifties looking to buy a ticket for the MetLife Stadium New Jersey show may have seen prices as high as $92,149. Beyoncé’s fans saw prices hit a high of $4,772 at Saint-Denis, France, show, Forbes reports.

While touring at the same time may make it easy to compare the pop legends, both Swift and Beyoncé will likely stay fan favorites for decades to come, regardless of how many awards they win.
