Many people across the globe have been opting to listen to podcasts over the last few years, and the audio content has taken off in America. The U.S. has the largest podcast market, with 100 million active users and over 5 million podcast options.
With the market quickly growing in the U.S., Triton Digital recently released a measurement of podcast growth and analytics in America.
“As the podcast industry continues to grow, we look forward to sharing these insights to help publishers and advertisers make more informed decisions,” says Triton Digital’s SVP of Measurement Products & Strateg Daryl Battaglia.
The company reports that the number of podcast downloads increased by 20% in 2022 and that the average listener tends to be male and younger than the general population.
The most popular genre for the year was news, with a 23% share, followed by comedy with 17%, and true crime with 15%.
The most downloaded podcast was NPR News Now, followed closely behind by Crime Junkie, The Ben Shapiro Show, Dateline NBC, and Morbid.
