Riding the Coattails Of ChatGPT

Multiple new startups are being created that are running off the viral craze of artificial intelligence (AI) and using it in new ways.

Key Details

  • ChatGPT has been a viral sensation for generating artificial answers, pictures, and more, and now many startup companies are capitalizing on the program.
  • The AI processes used by the ChatGPT chatbot are being used to create numerous new functions, as the bot can generate nearly anything.
  • New startups built on the AI tech, according to Fortune…
  • Cohere AI
  • Stability AI
  • Jasper
  • Tome
  • Prisma Labs
  • Midjourney
  • ProFluent Bio

Why it’s important

Since its launch in November, ChatGPT has attracted more than 100 million subscribers, and has gone viral for its AI capabilities.

The bot can generate its own answers, essays, and has even been tested to pass extensive exams like a medical licensing exam.

ChatGPT is extremely intelligent, and as more tests are done with it, new capabilities are being discovered. Due to its popularity, many businesses are using the viral technology and capitalizing on it while making new businesses to compete with it as well.

Cohere AI is a startup founded by ex-Google employees that uses the technology to make it easier for companies to use large language models.

Stability AI is another startup that uses AI tech to generate images that compete with Midjourney and OpenAI’s DALL-E 2. The company has quickly risen to success, being valued at $1 billion at less than a year old.

Startup Jasper uses ChatGPT technology to create copywriting software for marketing departments and is worth around $1.5 billion.

Tome and Midjourney are two new companies that use artificial intelligence to create images and illustrations. Tome focuses the AI capabilities to make illustrations for books. Users can type in a simple picture idea, and the software makes an illustration. However, that could be an issue as the U.S. Copyright Office rules that artificial-intelligence (AI)-generated artwork is not open to copyright protection.

Prisma App uses AI to take people’s selfies and create cartoon images of themselves, which have recently been popular to share on social media. People have uploaded the photos on TikTok and Instagram to show off the interesting AI capabilities.

And Lastly, ProFluent Bio uses the AI power tools to create new proteins. This new artificial way of creating protein could benefit the drug market and possibly develop new catalysts for agriculture and manufacturing, according to Fortune.

As ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence programs emerge, more new capabilities will be showcased, and as more people continue to use the bot and generate answers, the smarter it will get.
