Amazon has introduced a new payment method through Venmo ahead of holiday shopping surges.
Key Details
- For now, the option to use Venmo at checkout is limited to certain customers.
- The mobile payment option will be available to all customers by Black Friday—one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
- Venmo and Amazon announced their partnership last year.
Why it’s news
As holiday shopping seasons approach, Venmo is another easily accessible option for buyers to make purchases.
In a press release, Amazon says, “This convenient, simple, and secure payment method will give Amazon customers even more choice during the checkout experience. It will also provide the Venmo community with another store to shop for their holiday gifts using their Venmo account.”
Venmo, owned by PayPal, offers additional security for online shoppers.
Amazon has been adding more payment options to its line up. Just last year, the company added a “buy now, pay later” option through Affirm Holdings Inc.
