Ford And Tesla Hook Up

Ford Motor CEO Jim Farley and Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk will host a live, audio discussion via Twitter Spaces about accelerating EV adoption at 5:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, according to a post from Farley.

Key Details

  • Tesla leads the EV sector by far, but Ford follows increasingly close in fully electric vehicle sales in the U.S. last year, with more than 60,000 EV sales.
  • Ford leads Tesla in the pickup segment with sales of its F-150 Lightning, the electric version of its consistently popular trucks, very robust.
  • Ford also launched its Mustang Mach-E to compete with the Tesla Model Y and followed Tesla’s lead in cutting the price of the electric crossovers.

why it’s important

The online discussion between rivals comes as Ford attempts to ramp up production of its fully electric vehicles in an attempt to catch up to the leader Tesla.

The Twitter Spaces event will mark the latest interaction between the two executives. They admire each other but also compete fiercely for each other’s business.

Musk lauds Ford as a classic American company. And while other carmakers paused their ad spending on Twitter when Musk took over the platform last year, Ford continued to promote its brand there.

Key Details

  • The ability to make fake images with AI tools has been a concern since the emerging technology first became available.
  • Deep fakes and highly-realistic fake images have the potential to circulate misinformation and create pictures of public figures in compromising positions.
  • While photoshopped images today are fairly easy to detect with the human eye, critics worry that AI technology is developing faster than the human ability to spot it.

As the deadline to raise the debt ceiling draws closer, lawmakers are still locked in a heated debate about what concessions may be acceptable.

Key Details

  • Raising the debt ceiling has become increasingly controversial in recent years as the national debt continues to grow.
  • Often, the debt ceiling is lifted with little argument, but recently it has become a more controversial issue as lawmakers make raising the limit contingent on other spending cuts.
  • Even with some close calls in recent years, the U.S. has still not defaulted on its debt obligation, Fortune reports.

tech giants popular

In a recent brand-reputation survey, tech companies with physical products were well thought of, while those that provided digital services were not as well-liked.

Key Details

  • Users are concerned about artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential side effects, deepening the already prominent distrust of social-media providers.
  • Around 75% of Americans surveyed in the Axios Harris poll were worried about deep fakes and generative AI content.
  • Companies that users do trust include Samsung, Amazon, and Apple—all of which provide physical products, Axios reports.
  • Social-media companies like TikTok, Meta Platforms, and Twitter had some of the worst reputations on the list. Failed crypto exchange FTX had a similar ranking to these social-media companies.
