Success For the Average Joe

The problem

Not everyone is born with money but anyone can work their way into wealth and success. All you need is the proper decision-making skills and insight on how to use them.

An Average Guy’s Journey to Becoming a Millionaire: A Guide to Exiting Debt and Becoming Wealthy is a new book from Dallas-based engineer Jeremiah Decuir that claims to show how the average person can develop the best money habits.

The book tells the story of Jeremiah and Stephanie Decuir, who took some simple steps combined with hard work to achieve financial freedom. The book’s cover copy claims: “Anyone can do it. Even you.”

Backing up a bit

Jeremiah Decuir is a Dallas-based engineer who has worked with companies like FMC Technologies after graduating from Texas A&M.

“My key experiences have involved EPC projects at FMC Technologies, and now TechnipFMC, for almost seven years. My focus has been engineering activities but has included everything from working on the shop floor as a technician to tendering upcoming projects, to project management activities including influencing co-workers to complete necessary project tasks,” he says.

Possible solutions

Decuir believes that he has a unique insight to offer based on his success as a millennial who is facing today’s challenges.

“Times have changed and it’s time for a new way to think about money… How is it possible to become a millionaire in this day and age when the cost of living is so expensive? How do you become a millionaire when culture teaches us to work, work, and work some more until we feel like all of our hopes and dreams are killed by our reality to simply survive? … How can someone with an average upbringing break free into a life they always dreamed of?” he asks.

“If you have enjoyed books such as Rich Dad Poor Dad, The Richest Man in Babylon, Think and Grow Rich, The Millionaire Next Door, and any of Dave Ramsey’s content, this book is for you,” says Decuir.

The book was self-published by the author on August 4 and the audiobook was released on October 12, read by the author.

  • While consumers have long been used to paying subscriptions for magazines and newspapers, retail brands are now expanding—trying to use the subscription model to bring in extra revenue.
  • Subscription services work well for recurring purchases. Customers who partake in these services do not even have to remember to add items to their grocery lists. They just appear on their doorstep.
  • After Amazon successfully introduced its subscription boxes, other businesses like BarkBox, Birchbox, and FabFitFun launched their subscription services, unleashing a flood of retailers from every sector trying to get in on the subscription model.
